What to try at Chino Grande NYC

Nobody knows a restaurants menu better than the owners, that's why we go straight to the source for recommendations.

This week we got the chance to sit down with the owners of Chino Grande and hear the story behind this karaoke, chino fusion restaurant.

When we had the chance, we had to ask our go to question…

"If you could only have one thing on your menu what would it be?"

Erica quickly told us the Avocado salad, while Josh was adamant about the rice and beans (which I can confirm are the best rice and beans I have ever had).

But their journey together started long before Chino Grande. Josh explained, "I started working for Josh in 2016 when he opened up his first restaurant, Winsun. Yeah, we met there. Erica was one of our opening servers."

Their connection grew from there, leading to an unexpected proposal from Josh: "Do you want to go to lunch?" followed by, "Do you want to open a karaoke bar?" Erica’s response? "Yes." And just like that, Chino Grande was born—a restaurant with karaoke, blending the comfort of Chino Latino food with a touch of good… and bad singing.

Erica and Josh wanted to bring the nostalgic feeling of NYC’s Chino Latino cuisine to a new audience. "It’s just a very comforting feeling that I think we want to share with people," Erica said, "in the same way that we love sharing karaoke together."

Chino Grande is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience where food, music, and memories come together. If you’re in New York, it’s a spot you won’t want to miss.
