For Sam, the journey to becoming a restaurant owner started with humble beginnings and an unwavering passion for food. At Dum Sum Palace, his love for dim sum shines through every meticulously crafted dish, drawing New Yorkers in search of authentic flavors and a dedication to quality.
Sam began his career in the restaurant industry at the young age of 17. Over the next 28 years, he gained hands-on experience in nearly every role—from busboy to chef—learning the ins and outs of restaurant operations. But it was his work as a dim sum chef that ignited his desire to open his own restaurant. “I’ve always loved cooking and making dim sum,” Sam shares. “Even back home in China, I fell in love with this industry because of the joy I get when people love my food.”
With decades of experience under his belt, Sam chose New York City—the place he and his family call home—to open Dum Sum Palace.
A Menu Built on Tradition and Freshness

For him, opening this school is about preserving tradition and ensuring that dim sum continues to thrive for generations to come. His vision extends beyond New York City—Sam hopes to expand Dum Sum Palace across the country, bringing fresh, authentic dim sum to diners everywhere.
